Arrangments for an external review of the UBC Faculty of Education. The review is being carried out to assist the University as it considers the reappointment of Dean Blye Frank, whose current term comes to an end on 30 June 2016. The terms of reference, for review, are attached and may be also be found at http://vpacademic.ubc.ca/.
The members of the review team are:
Dr. Mary Kalantzis, Dean, College of Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Dr. Dilson Rassier, Dean, Faculty of Education, McGill University
Dr. Fern Snart, Professor and former Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Alberta
The review team will visit UBC November 16-18, 2015. Meetings will be held with faculty members, staff, students, senior administrators, and other individuals and groups that may interact with the Faculty. Dr. Herbert Rosengarten, the review coordinator, will organize the onsite meetings of the review team. Before the reviewers’ arrival on campus, they will receive documentation on all aspects of the Faculty’s operation, including the quality of its teaching and research, its facilities and resources, its administrative structure and organization, and its internal and external linkages. The reviewers’ findings, in the form of a report to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, will be of value to the senior administration, the Faculty of Education, and the University community as a whole.
The Provost invites and encourages all members of the Faculty of Education to provide written comments relevant to the matters under review. Please forward your comments to the review coordinator, Dr. Herbert Rosengarten, at hjr@exchange.ubc.ca. Your comments will be held in strict confidence, and Dr. Rosengarten will arrange for them to be forwarded to the members of the review team. The deadline for receipt of comments is Friday, November 13, 2015. Please ensure your comments are identified by name and affiliation.
